LED Lighting Installation

There are a lot of good reasons to convert your home to LED lights, especially when you consider the cost savings of indoor LED lighting, but you may be worried about the process. How hard is it to do, how long does it take, and what’s the cost?

SESCO has you covered, with experienced electricians who know the ins and outs of home LED lighting installation. We’ll help you discover a whole new way of lighting up your life.

Reasons to Change

  • You’ll save money. LED lights last for years without needing replacement and you’ll see an immediate drop in your electricity bills.
  • It’s easy to be green. LED uses a fraction of the energy that halogen or fluorescent bulbs do, they’re recyclable and they don’t emit any toxins.
  • You’ll love the way your home looks. LED lights are bright, with impressive CRI (color rendering index) levels that blow old-fashioned bulbs away.
  • Enjoy your home worry-free. Never wonder if the lights will come on when you install maintenance-free LED lamps.
  • They’re safer. LED lights contain no breakable glass and they aren’t hot to touch, even when lit.

Have total lighting control. A SESCOS electrician can show you how to create the perfect lighting for every room and every task depending on the light you install.

Why Use Outdoor LED Lighting?

No more climbing up on the roof in bad weather to change a light bulb that’s burned out above the garage or patio. That’s just one reason LED lights are perfect for outdoor use. Here are some others.

  • No ultraviolet lighting means they don’t attract bugs.
  • LED lights are waterproof so they’re perfect for pools, ponds and similar areas.
  • They’re durable and won’t crack or break in extreme temperatures.
  • Their high CRI means they work better with surveillance cameras than any other type of outdoor light.

Better Lighting Control

If you’re after beautifully bright light, LEDs are your answer because of all bulbs, they most closely mimic natural sunlight.

  • New models can be used in recessed lights, directional lights and ambient lighting schemes.
  • They come in a range of colors and will work with dimmers, scene sets and other features, making them truly customizable.
  • A SESCOS electrician can set up the lighting system that works for you.

Ready to Switch?

The best way to make the change is to call an experienced, knowledgeable electrician. At SESCO, we have the know-how to transform your old lighting system.

Converting to LED Lights
  • We begin with an in-home consultation where we’ll inspect your wiring and discuss your plans.
  • SESCOS can recommend the right fixtures and help you determine if you need a complete rewiring or a retrofit.
  • We sell and install every variety of LED light.

Ask your SESCOS electrician about special features you want, like dimming, remote control, “smart” technologies or security lighting.

How to Choose Indoor LED Lighting

When making the conversion to LED, it’s important to understand some LED terminology.

Lumens, not watts. LED lights measure their output by lumens. You can ask your SESCOS electrician for a comparison chart showing the number of lumens you’ll need to get the amount of light output you want. For instance, a 450-lumen bulb is roughly equivalent to a 40-watt incandescent bulb and an 1100-lumen LED is similar to a 75-watt bulb.

Kelvins are key. The Kelvin degree indicates how “cool” or “warm” a light is. Direct sunlight has a K of about 4800. Candlelight measures about 1900 K and a bright blue sky would have about 9000 K. You can choose the level of warmth in your LED light depending on where you’re using it.

Ideas for Cost Savings

If you’re worried about the price of converting to indoor or outdoor LED lighting, you can do it gradually, focusing on areas where you’ll see an immediate benefit.

  • Ask your SESCO electrician about adhesive-backed LED tape, which can be installed anywhere.
  • Instead of overhauling your fixtures, simply fit LED lamps into your old fixtures.
  • Start with LED lights in hard-to-reach spots or those that you often to forget to turn off, like porch lights.
